The DV page of the web server has two parts. The first captures: the unit automatically sniffs, displays and saves the mandatory Dolby Vision string of the sink at HDMI OUT, and decodes the value into readable fields. The second is a constructor for a custom data block.
Keep your display’s DV block when an AVR joins the chain
Once the display’s string is saved, AutoMix (COPY TX SINK EDID and MODIFY) can use it so the Dolby Vision stream from the source stays compatible with that display. The manual describes the practical case: capture the string with the display connected, then insert an AVR or other equipment in between and still get the right DV signal through to the display.
Building a custom DV data block
The constructor applies when the DV flag on the EDID page is set to CUSTOM. You set:
- the DV interface type
- the primaries (a preset, or CUSTOM)
- YUV422 12-bit support on or off
- global dimming and backlight control on or off
- backlight minimum luminance: 25, 50, 75 or 100 nits
- 444/RGB support at 10-bit or 12-bit, or disabled
Create IF builds the block from these values, Default IF reloads the default values, and Send DV stores the string in the unit. Only the finished string is kept; the form fields return to their defaults afterwards, so note your settings if you want to repeat them.
Custom primaries and luminance range
With primaries set to CUSTOM, separate X and Y coordinates can be entered for red, green and blue. Maximum luminance accepts 100 to 10000 nits, minimum luminance 0 to 1 nit.
LLDV starting points from the manual
For LLDV maximum luminance, the DV FAQ in the DR HDMI 8K manual (Rev 1.2) says the default of 1000 nits will be good for most users.
If faces look red and colors oversaturated, check the primaries. When DCI-P3 is set and LLDV goes to a display without a DCI-P3 color profile, the display applies a BT.2020 profile instead, which produces exactly that look. The fix is to send BT.2020, not DCI-P3.
